A great analogy.

Now, it would be nice if, like Wile E. Coyote, once we hit the bottom we could just walk away as if what happened was only a minor inconvenience.

"either the government is stupid or the government is lying."

They're lying!.... and they're stupid.

Thanks for the laugh you gave me with this post. I know what's happening is not funny, but if I don't laugh at stuff like this, I become infuriated. Maybe that's what we need to be.

Ever see the bumper sticker... "Sure you can trust the government... just ask the Indians!"

Heh. My local bank is offering 5.25% on checking accounts with less than 20k. I wonder if that has anything to do with a balance sheet problem. Maybe the bank is just being generous to its customers, who already get FREE CHECKING! on top of the 5.25% interest.

Wow, the bank lets me give it my money for free to lend to other people. How generous of it. I wish we could all be so charitable as to offer free services.

The advertisement for this "service" depicts a guy who has just stuck his finger in an electrical piggy bank. He looks like he's just been sitting in an electric chair. How apt.

Thanks, Floyd, for the words of exhortation.

I was hoping that I might get an invitation to hear the proceedings of the G-7 over the weekend, but I guess my invitation was lost in the mail.

I think that I have mixed feelings about rejoicing in what could be the demise of the extortioners. On one hand, I find a certain fascinating interest in the proceedings, while on the other hand I recognize that the majority of my neighbors have, perhaps unwittingly, thrown themselves into the fray.

It can be difficult to detach one's family from the tentacles of the great society. We've been trying for some time to move in that direction, but are not quite there.

I think the heaviness in my heart stems from the knowledge that even in the pale of the church, not many preachers have faithfully taught the whole counsel of the Word as it applies to finance. Many well intentioned believers have bought into the status quo.

A few have tried, no doubt, only to glean a smile and a wink across the room. "Ahh, off on that tangent again. Well, he's a good hearted rascal anyway!"

Of course, while American are outraged at the $440,000 spent by the AIG execs, they are still looking forward to Hanks and the rest of the rescue team, hoping that the free flow of credit will resume and continue. I heard on the news "The government just has to do something!" by one alarmed 401K contributor. So we have come to that, have we? I fear that perhaps more is being done that they know.

Barnes captures the truth of the sad end of the wicked: "Alas! what multitudes there are who thus live—whose only aim is to secure the wealth and the honors of this life—who have no more thought of a future state, and who form no more plans in regard to a future world, than do the brutes!

Minister of Treasury Paulson,

My bank account routing number is 101006699. Hopefully that is enough information to give you access to my account, which has about $50.00 in it. I know it's not much, but it should help some.

I don't have an IRA or a college fund account. My children don't tell me their bank account numbers, and I know they don't have IRAs. I don't yet have any grandchildren. But my son or daughter may have a college fund account. I'll see what I can do to find it out, for I'm sure they will see the sincerity of your need and request, and will gladly do anything they can to help you in your distress.

All of us good loving christians want to do everything we can to help those in need. Please feel free to take anything I've got. All we need is love.

Hello, J and Floyd,

I appreciate your need to remain anonymous. I was hashing some things over with some (anonymous) men last Sunday evening when I thought to ask one (anonymous) man that seemed to be well connected in the internet world if he knew who Floyd was. His response was that Floyd doesn't really exist, except on the internet. As far as we know, it could be true. :-)

Floyd, I don't know if this gives away your general local or not, but I noticed that comments posted on your blog show a time stamp difference of five hours, which puts you on the other side of the Atlantic from here. If your WordPress clock is correct, I'm starting to zero in...

Yes, J, you are right on the money with your guess. I'm sure that what I wrote shows that I've been influenced by S. C. Mooney.

His book has changed some lives, including mine. I once gave a copy to a brother who was passing through town, and he went home and read it. Then within weeks he had cashed in all of his usurious "investments" and sold off some real estate he'd leveraged. I wish that we'd all be as committed to the truth, as if only 1% of Christendom would embrace and walk in the light concerning our wallets it would bring down this cursed debt-based, fiat currency bubble and open up great opportunity for re-establishing Godly families on the land in true freedom.

Usury is most definitely sucking the lifeblood out of this nation (as well as others you might be in). At present, we're on artificial means to keep it alive here. I wish that God's people, like North, would stop embracing this dying corpse, and get back to "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness" according to God's word.

I suppose North doesn't consider Mooney a "commentator" or worthy of consideration as one that has no embarrasment over Luke 19? Why are great men sometimes so willfully blind? Is it because, as Nilsson pointedly said, "we hear, what we want to hear, and we see, what we want to see?" False gods, like Mammon, hold a powerful sway over us until God by His grace shows us what they are and enables us to turn away from them.

Yup! We're in good company, right up there with John Calvin and Rahab the harlot. All saved sinners, every one. Keep the faith.
